Teenage Dirtbag
I have a dream about her
She rings my bell
I got gym class in half an hour
Oh how she rocks
In Keds and tube socks
But she doesn't know who I am
And she doesn't give a damn about me
She rings my bell
I got gym class in half an hour
Oh how she rocks
In Keds and tube socks
But she doesn't know who I am
And she doesn't give a damn about me
Cause I’m just a teenage dirt bag baby
I'm just a teenage dirt bag baby
Listen to Iron Maiden baby with me
I'm just a teenage dirt bag baby
Listen to Iron Maiden baby with me
Her boyfriend's a dick
And he brings a gun to school
And he'd simply kick
My ass if he knew the truth
He lives on my block
And he drives an Iroc
But he doesn't know who I am
And he doesn't give a damn about me
And he brings a gun to school
And he'd simply kick
My ass if he knew the truth
He lives on my block
And he drives an Iroc
But he doesn't know who I am
And he doesn't give a damn about me
Cause I’m just a teenage dirtbag baby
I'm just a teenage dirtbag baby
Listen to Iron Maiden baby with me
I'm just a teenage dirtbag baby
Listen to Iron Maiden baby with me
Oh, yeah, dirtbag
No she doesn't know what she's missing
Oh, yeah, dirtbag
No she doesn't know what she's missing
No she doesn't know what she's missing
Oh, yeah, dirtbag
No she doesn't know what she's missing
Man I feel like mould
It's prom night and I am lonely
Lo and behold
She's walking over to me
This must be fake
My lip starts to shake
How does she know who I am?
And why does she give a damn about me?
I've got two tickets to Iron Maiden baby
Come with me Friday, don't say maybe
I'm just a teenage dirtbag baby like you
It's prom night and I am lonely
Lo and behold
She's walking over to me
This must be fake
My lip starts to shake
How does she know who I am?
And why does she give a damn about me?
I've got two tickets to Iron Maiden baby

Sk8er Boi
She was a girl
Can I make it any more obvious
Can I make it any more obvious
He was a punk
She did ballet
What more can I say
She did ballet
What more can I say
He wanted her
She'd never tell
Secretly she wanted him as well
She'd never tell
Secretly she wanted him as well
But all of her friends
Stuck up their nose
They had a problem with his baggy clothes
Stuck up their nose
They had a problem with his baggy clothes
He was a skater boy
She said see you later boy
He wasn't good enough for her
She said see you later boy
He wasn't good enough for her
She had a pretty face
But her head was up in space
She needed to come back down to earth
But her head was up in space
She needed to come back down to earth
Five years from now
She sits at home
Feeding the baby she's all alone
She sits at home
Feeding the baby she's all alone
She turns on TV
Guess who she sees
Skater boy rockin' up MTV
Guess who she sees
Skater boy rockin' up MTV
She calls up her friends
They already know
And they've all got tickets to see his show
They already know
And they've all got tickets to see his show
She tags along
Stands in the crowd
Looks up at the man that she turned down
Stands in the crowd
Looks up at the man that she turned down
He was a skater boy
She said see you later boy
He wasn't good enough for her
She said see you later boy
He wasn't good enough for her
Now he's a super star
Slamming on his guitar
Does your pretty face see what he's worth?
Slamming on his guitar
Does your pretty face see what he's worth?
He was a skater boy
She said see you later boy
He wasn't good enough for her
She said see you later boy
He wasn't good enough for her
Now he's a super star
Slamming on his guitar
Does your pretty face see what he's worth?
Slamming on his guitar
Does your pretty face see what he's worth?
Sorry girl but you missed out
Well tough luck that boy's mine now
We are more than just good friends
This is how the story ends
Well tough luck that boy's mine now
We are more than just good friends
This is how the story ends
Too bad that you couldn't see
See the man that boy could be
There is more that meets the eye
I see the soul that is inside
See the man that boy could be
There is more that meets the eye
I see the soul that is inside
He's just a boy
And I'm just a girl
Can I make it any more obvious
And I'm just a girl
Can I make it any more obvious
We are in love
Haven't you heard
How we rock each others world
Haven't you heard
How we rock each others world
I'm with the skater boy
I said see you later boy
I'll be back stage after the show
I said see you later boy
I'll be back stage after the show
I'll be at the studio
Singing the song we wrote
About a girl you used to know
Singing the song we wrote
About a girl you used to know
I'm with the skater boy
I said see you later boy
I'll be back stage after the show
I said see you later boy
I'll be back stage after the show
I'll be at the studio
Singing the song we wrote
About a girl you used to know

How does diegetic and non diegetic sound represent the target audience in your two case study music videos?
Diegetic is when you can hear and see the sound whereas non-diegetic is when you can hear the sound but cannot see see the action take place, these are both used in films and videos. my two case studies are Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus and Sk8er Boi by Avril Laveighn.
In Wheatus' video-Teenage Dirtbag, the target audience is for USA/UK 12+ boys, mainly C1-E social grades. In the background the songs tune is very youthful, fun and energetic which is Dick Hebdige point; 'youth are mixed metaphors of "youth as fun" and "youth as trouble makers,"' but these are only seen in the background music. The non diegetic and diegetic music's heard throughout the song and is continuent. In comparison, my second video 'Sk8er Boi,' has Dick Hebdige' theory in the lyrics for example; 'Now he's a superstar slamming on his guitar,' this shows he's living a really fun life but also links into Gandless theory of; 'rags to riches,' this would attract the target audience which is 12+ white females as they aspire to be rich as in reality they are not.
During most of the verses, Gauntlets theory is heard; ' Alpha males who control the action with violence', 'her boyfriends a dick and he brings a gun to school,' This shows that he's a classic alpha male as he is trying to control the action with violence, this would make most boys who come from the US, be able to relate as they have problems with guns in that country. In Sk8er Boi Gauntlets theory is also used; 'He was a skater boy,' this shows the alpha male side in contrast to solving a problem with an action.

Parts of the song are represented as Laura Mulveys theory of women are seen as; 'erotic objects of desire for males on screen,' this is heard throughout the song for example; 'her name is Noelle i have a dream about her,' this would appeal to male viewers as many males will dream about a female figure as they attract and erouse a male. In comparison, Sk8er Boi's; 'she has a pretty face,' is heard and would make the target audience of females quite relatable, as they always seem to put themselves down and never seem to feel like they look okay as they are too busy comparing themselves to, 'The pretty girl.'
In conclusion diegetic and non-diegetic sounds are heard throughout both of the songs and represents the target audience in the correct way.
