How is Tension and
Suspension created Through Media Language in the tv scenes
The
scene starts with a diegetic sound of thunder and lightning and a close up of a
tv that turns to static this crates tension and suspense connotes there’s is a
power cut or ghostly interaction.
The
shot on screen creates tension and suspense by showing a medium shot and having
dull coloured lighting In the corners of the room to make viewers look around
the room to see anything moving in a ghostly figure.
This
shots Camera angle changes too an over the shoulder shot to make it as if you
are seeing it from the ghosts point of view. The movement is also hand held,
this is creating tension and suspense by having the camera shaking and swaying
towards the little girl.
It
then changes to an over the shoulder close up shot from the point of view from
the girl, they then use cgi to show creepy man in the chair behind her, this is
creating tension and suspense because it makes you think your seeing a ghost.
Swish
cam takes you to a medium shot, special effects make it look like the remote is
floating in the air, this shows there is a ghostly figure there, but the remote
then drops giving the viewers tension and suspense because this is a sign the
ghost has gone.
The
editing and ordering of the shots at the start increases the tension and
suspense dramatically, especially with the sound, then at the end where the
jump scare occurs, the editing of the ghostly figure jumping out screaming ‘my
house’ happen quickly scaring viewers. It then goes back into a medium shot of
the girl looking terrified.
